The application and tuition fees for degree programs are 600RMB/program and 18,000RMB/year, respectively.
Other essential costs for study
During the registration period of new students, the International Students Office will assist the new students to log in to Shanghai Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau to make an appointment for physical examination online. The health check fee is 460RMB, and the courier fee is 25RMB. Those who have undergone physical examination abroad need to provide a full set of examination report.
All overseas students who plan to study in China for over 6 months must apply for a student visa. Per semester, students should assume to spend 200 RMB to 300 RMB on books and course materials. The average monthly internet bill is 95 RMB (split between tenants) and a mobile phone plan is 100 RMB a month.
Accommodation cost
For degree-program students, the accommodation cost varies depending on your options. If you choose to live on campus, the dormitory costs 1500RMB/month for single occupancy, and 900RMB/month for double occupancy. Affordable apartments/flats outside of the campus are also available.
The cost of living
Living costs in metropolitan areas like Shanghai and Beijing would be slightly expensive. However, this mainly depends on your lifestyle, though eating out in China is very cheap compared to many other countries.
Scholarship
Winning a Shanghai Municipal Government Scholarship (Category A) can give you a tuition fee waiver, free accommodation, free health insurance, and even a monthly stipend of 3000RMB to bear food and other costs to study in China as an international student. Winners of Shanghai Municipal Government Scholarship (Category B) can get a tuition fee waiver and free health insurance.
