The Teaching Department of Arts and Sciences is mainly tasked with serving the basic cultural courses teaching, mathematics courses, and humanistic courses teaching of the whole university. It currently has 22 faculty members, 20 full-time teachers, 9 doctoral degree teachers, 7 associate professors, 13 lecturers, and 2 teaching assistants.
The department has two teaching and research sections of humanities and mathematics, which undertake the teaching tasks of humanities and mathematics courses for the whole university.
Relying on Shanghai's local cultural resources, the department has developed a new path for ideological and political education and teaching. It established the "Fu Lei Pavilion" course ideological and political practice demonstration teaching base of Shanghai Vocational College of Business and Foreign Languages and is working hard to promote the university's Osler Health Medical Humanities Center, Medical Education Museum, and the construction of the university's general education curriculum system. The teachers of the department actively apply for various projects, and successfully applied for several teaching and research projects and teaching team development projects. These projects include the Industry-University-Research Project of the Ministry of Education, the Shanghai Social Science Publishing Fund Project, the University Potential Fund Project, the Teaching Research Project, the Hundred Talents Project, and the Climbing Plan Project.
